Description

Step back into the pages of history with this authentic 1929 $100 National Bank Note, originating from the Cleveland, Ohio Federal Reserve and graced with a distinctive brown seal. Issued during the Great Depression, these vintage bills reflect a significant chapter in American financial history.

Currency Highlights:

Reverse: An engraving of Independence Hall.

This is a unique series of small-size Federal Reserve Bank Notes, issued during the Great Depression to stabilize the U.S. economy amidst cash hoarding and bank failures. Unlike typical Federal Reserve Notes, these notes feature brown seals and “NATIONAL CURRENCY” at the top. They bear bold black letters from “A” to “L” for the twelve Federal Reserve Districts. The name of the issuing Federal Reserve Bank is prominently displayed, replacing the title of a National Bank.

Production ceased in 1934, and while they remain legal tender, they are rarely found in circulation today. Despite their large production quantities, they are challenging to find in good condition. These notes are not only historically significant but also an intriguing collecting challenge.
